Boston is iconic for its beautiful fall leaves, Fenway Park, Mike’s Pastry cannolis, the Common, Hahvahd Yahd, and… expensive parking. Finding a spot is not only time consuming and frustrating, but also increasingly expensive. According to boston.gov, the City of Boston last raised parking meter fees citywide in 2011 when the hourly rate increased their one dollar minimum by 25 cents.
Besides on holidays, most free parking is available for 15 minutes to two hours, but here are the best places to park for free in Boston and Greater Boston.
Seaport on Sunday
All metered spaces in Boston are free on Sunday, but your best chance of getting one is in Seaport. This area of Boston has the most metered parking available.
The CVS Parking Lot in Brighton
This parking lot is notorious for towing, but you can park there for about two hours without any trouble.
Blanchards in Allston
After 8 pm, you can park at Blanchards with no problem until midnight. Be careful though, check back every hour or two to make sure that they didn’t call a tow truck. Depending on the day, you might have to find an easier way to park.
Parkaze offers a solution to people who want to stay in Boston for a day or longer, but don’t want to pay a lot of money or worry about their car’s safety. While free parking options are convenient, they aren’t great for visitors nor people who just want to stroll around Boston. For more information, click the link below!
